Antique French Footed Faisselle

$180.00
sold out

Era: 19th Century

Origin: France

Material: White-glazed earthenware

Dimensions: 8” W handle to handle × 5.75” D × 3” H

DESCRIPTION

A beautifully timeworn French faisselle, once used in the traditional making of fresh cheese.

Made from earthenware and finished in a soft white glaze, this old kitchen vessel has been pierced throughout to allow whey to drain from the curds held inside. Its low, footed form and two wonderfully rounded handles give it an especially charming silhouette.

Years of use have left their mark in the loveliest way. Areas of worn glaze reveal the warm earthenware beneath, particularly around the rim and interior, giving the piece the quiet character of something that once belonged to the everyday rhythm of a French kitchen.

Now retired from its original purpose, it is a beautiful object to leave simply as found on an open shelf, layered into a kitchen collection, or filled with gathered seasonal finds.
