DESCRIPTION
A beautifully aged French Terre de Fer soupière by Choisy-le-Roi, with a softly sculpted pedestal form, decorative handles, and a creamy white glaze with a subtle blue-gray cast.
Made as a serving vessel for the French table, its generous bowl, raised foot, and substantial side handles give the piece a wonderful sculptural presence. The extensive crazing and timeworn surface developed through age and use, creating the layered patina that makes old French ceramics so distinctive.
The interior bears a visible Terre de Fer / Choisy le Roi maker’s mark, identifying its manufacture. The understated form and monochromatic glaze make it especially beautiful displayed on open shelving, centered on a kitchen island, or layered among a collection of antique French ceramics.
